New Years Resolution: De-clutter & Re-organize

Happy New Year!!

I cannot believe that we are already at the end of 2021…this year has FLOWN by! I am excited for all that 2022 has in store! Have you already made your New Year’s resolution? I don’t know about you but I love to de-clutter and reorganize at the beginning of each year. It makes you feel so good to clean out the old things that you no longer need and start with a fresh, clean slate. Today, I am going to share my tips on how to do that!

First are foremost, everyone has their own specific rooms or areas that are more messy than others. Start with taking a notepad and pen and walking around your home to see where you have things that are causing clutter or mess. A few places to check are bedrooms, bathrooms,
closets and attics.

Tip # 1. Have a great attitude!
Having a good attitude is key to being successful in your de-cluttering agenda. This can be extremely stressful and overwhelming for some, so start slow, and do little bits at a time. A little progress here and there will still result in the same end goal. Making sure not to overwhelm yourself is key!

Tip # 2. Make your plan!
Starting with your notepad and pen can help you think logically on the spaces that need cleaning out. I know for me, when I get in the re-organized mode I can sometimes want to throw out everything. Don’t do this! Try and make a list and figure out what you really don’t need.

Tip # 3. Money money money!
When going through your home, before you just throw something out, try to see if you can sell it first! Do you have a family member or friend who would like this? Try Facebook marketplace as well, pieces can sell fast on there! Before you end up with nothing, try and see if you can make a few bucks! Also, if you wanted to this would be a great opportunity to have a garage sell.

Tip # 4. Donate!
De-cluttering your space is a great opportunity to donate the items that you no longer need, and it makes you feel good! There are plenty of places that would accept your items and be put to
great use. Goodwill, Homeless shelters, The Salvation Army…just search around you and see what donation places you have.

Tip # 5. Make it FUN!
My last tip, and probably the most important is just to make this time fun. I know it can get extremely overwhelming very quickly, but it doesn’t have to be. Invite a friend over to help you, get your music playing, have a glass of wine! At the end of all of this, you will be so happy that you did it and it will make you feel ready to go for the new year!

What are your tips to de-cluttering or re-organizing your home? I would love to hear!

Talk soon!

XO,
Julee
